New GPS User - turn-by-turn creation?

Hello everyone:

I am a bicyclist and am curious whether I can create "routes" with turn-by-turn directions and save them to my GPS? I frequently get lost out in the middle of nowhere.

Also, I have the Garmin nuvi 260. Do they make a holder that would allow me to hang it on my handlebars?
